Digital CCTV for Security and Surveillance

Digital CCTV systems are available in two formats:

Traditional cameras, cat5e or RG59 cables and a DVR. The Digital Video Recorder (DVR) provides superior image quality and higher frame recording rates than VCR (VHS tape). DVRs also offer increased functionality such as the ability to send triggered alarm calls via Internet, telephone and SMS text. Many have the ability for remote viewing via the Internet and the option of intelligent image analysis by software. e.g. forbidden zones, tracking of left-unattended objects and people counting. DVRs are available either as a standalone unit or as PC based systems with add on video input cards.

IP network cameras, network cables or wireless networking and a PC. IP network cameras simply add onto existing networking and use networking protocols to record images to available hard drives.
